According to Sunderland Echo, Florent Ghisolfi believes Sunderland have addressed a height and physicality shortfall with six summer signings after a challenging window.

The Black Cats felt Premier League rivals held a clear edge in that department last season, yet a seventh-placed finish meant they were scarcely punished. Ghisolfi said bridging that gap became a clear objective.

He explained their average height was lower than opponents in every game last season, so recruitment focused on size and strength. Five of the six arrivals measure over 1.90m, which he views as significant progress.

Kevin Danso, Thomas Meunier and Jules Ahoka are among those adding presence across the squad. On the training ground, players have noted the greater stature around them.

The final deal of the window, Juan Riquelme Angulo from Independiente del Valle, also brings height. He made his debut in an U21s win over Norwich City last week and is currently away with Ecuador.

Malick Fofana, another deadline-day addition, is the sole recruit under six foot.
