Sunderland are accelerating their summer plans, with Florent Ghisolfi assessing moves for a Serie A winger and a centre-back.

Corriere dello Sport reports representatives of AS Roma winger Matías Soulé are in the UK for talks with Sunderland and Fulham over a potential transfer.

Ghisolfi previously took Soulé from Juventus to Rome, and Roma are said to be open to a sale to aid UEFA compliance and reinvest before the Champions League. A fee around £30 million has been widely reported for the 23-year-old. Sunderland want a new right winger after Bertrand Traoré’s departure.

Reports in Italy suggest Sunderland could step up their pursuit of Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemović with an official bid next week. The Bosnia international also has Premier League interest, while Juventus complicate matters by retaining a 50% sell-on. Jhon Lucumí at Bologna is another option under consideration.

Caught Offside says Arsenal and Liverpool are weighing a move for former Sunderland loanee Lutsharel Geertruida. Sunderland are still interested, though the option-to-buy clause is understood to have expired. The 25-year-old ended the season strongly and was key to Europa League qualification.
