Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has early this week taken firm aim at the club’s many critics.
This comes amid the suggestion that unrealistic expectations are being set for the capital giants on a year-to-year basis.
Real Madrid are of course fresh off a hugely underwhelming campaign in 2025/26. Across stints under the watch of both Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa, Los Blancos struggled to gel both on the pitch and off it.
As much culminated in a 2nd trophyless season on the spin, considered unacceptable by those of a Real persuasion.
The backlash against all associated with the club has in turn been predictably ruthless, amid calls for change from the boardroom all the way to the playing squad.
As alluded to above, though, one individual of the opinion that the criticism of his side has been blown entirely out of proportion of late is Florentino Pérez.
Speaking during an exchange with the media early this week, Real Madrid’s president assured:
“We shouldn’t go crazy. This idea that you can win a Champions League every year is ridiculous. Winning six in 10 years is something no one has ever done.”
