Florian Sotoca has signed a one-year extension at RC Lens, keeping the captain under contract until June 2027. The club announced the deal on Friday.
He had been due to reach the end of his deal on 30 June. Lens, still vying with PSG for the Ligue 1 title and newly into the Coupe de France semi-finals, are securing key figures.
Sotoca’s on-pitch role has been more limited this season, with fewer than 400 minutes in all competitions. Even so, the 35-year-old remains a standard-bearer in the dressing room.
Courted by Nantes in January, the Narbonne-born forward chose to stay, firmly attached to his Pas-de-Calais home.
The extension allows him to continue providing experience, and probably a second Champions League campaign after 2023-24. He has 41 goals in 241 appearances for Lens, and is their most decisive player of the 21st century.
