Valencia returned to work at the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna after a rest day, but flu again hit preparations for Saturday's pivotal meeting with Elche at Mestalla, given their recent poor run. According to AS, Jesús Vázquez and Filip Ugrinic left the session early with flu.

The pair are the latest squad members to be affected by a virus that has passed through several players in recent weeks.

Ugrinic missed the visit to Celta Vigo and, three days on, still has flu. Vázquez started at Balaídos.

The rest of the squad trained as normal on the grass in Paterna. Long-term absentees Diakhaby and Agirrezabala worked separately on their planned recovery programme.

Outside, the car park was calm, with a couple of families waiting to take photos with the players. This followed a call that circulated on social media yesterday for a protest against the team this morning.
