Fluminense dominate 2026 Carioca best XI, Fábio named player of the tournament

Fluminense dominated the 2026 Campeonato Carioca best XI despite finishing runners-up. The best team was revealed at a Copacabana ceremony on Monday, a day after Flamengo were crowned champions against Fluminense.
According to Globo.com, Fluminense supplied six names to the selection, with Flamengo contributing two and Bangu, Botafogo, Madureira, Nova Iguaçu and Vasco one each.
The XI featured goalkeeper Fábio of Fluminense, right-back Puma Rodríguez of Vasco and left-back Matheus Julião of Madureira. The centre-backs were Jemmes of Fluminense and Léo Pereira of Flamengo, with Martinelli of Fluminense, Danilo of Botafogo and Lucho Acosta of Fluminense in midfield. Up front were Pedro of Flamengo, PK of Bangu and Serna of Fluminense, while Zubeldía of Fluminense was named coach.
Fábio was named player of the tournament, having starred in Fluminense’s run by saving a Brenner penalty in the semi-finals. Lucas Cruz of Nova Iguaçu was voted the competition’s revelation by journalists covering the event.
Flamengo goalkeeper Rossi was recognised as the match hero after saving penalties from Guga and Otávio in the final to seal the title. The top scorers were Patryck PK of Bangu and Pedro of Flamengo.
