FC Bayern is consistently pushing ahead with its international strategy and is once again focusing on the Asian market. As the record champions have now confirmed, the team will travel to Asia next summer as part of a so-called „Summer Tour“ – an integral part of the club’s global orientation

Two test matches are scheduled between 1 and 8 August. FCB will first play local club Jeju SK FC on the South Korean island of Jeju, followed by a clash with Premier League side Aston Villa in Hong Kong. This will be the tenth summer tour for the Munich club – a clear sign of its long-term strategy to further expand its international presence

Bayern focuses on global growth

The importance of these trips goes far beyond the sporting aspect. Chief Marketing Officer Rouven Kasper made it clear how important internationalization is for the club and German soccer as a whole: „Internationalization is essential for German soccer as a whole in order to develop further – and FC Bayern has been a pioneer in this area for years.“

FC Bayern no longer sees itself as just a top national club, but as a global brand. „We are at home in Munich and at the same time have our fans and partners all over the world in mind,“ emphasized Kasper

Enormous fan base in Asia

The record champions traditionally have a particularly strong presence in Asia. According to the club, around one billion people worldwide sympathize with FC Bayern – around half of whom come from Asia, an impressive figure that underlines the strategic focus of the Munich-based club

In Asia alone, there are around 80 official fan clubs with more than 9500 members, so the Summer Tour not only serves to prepare for the sport, but also to cultivate this international fan base and strengthen local partnerships

FC Bayern last visited Asia two years ago, while last summer the focus was on participation in the Club World Cup in the USA. The new trip to the Far East now clearly shows that the Munich club wants to further consolidate its global presence – and expand its position as one of the leading international soccer clubs

For FC Bayern, the message is clear: the club has long been looking beyond the borders of Europe – and the international stage remains a central component of its future strategy.
