Folarin Balogun set to remain at Monaco following failed Everton move | OneFootball

Following his failed move to Everton on transfer deadline day, Folarin Balogun’s (25) future was unclear. The USMNT forward has returned to AS Monaco. However, the Principality club is desperate to raise funds and make savings on his considerable wage. As a result, with the windows in Turkiye and Saudi Arabia still open, an exit, despite the closure of the transfer window in France and in many leagues across Europe, was a possibility.

When asked about Balogun’s future in a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro said that “there is a chance” that the former Arsenal forward remains at the club. However, that response was far from definitive; the door was very much open. It may still be ajar, at the very least, however, with Aleksandr Golovin and Pape Cabral both potentially departing, Nice-Matin understands that Balogun will, in all likelihood, stay.

An exit for the striker is foreseeable in January. Lamine Camara, meanwhile, will also stay following his failed move to Chelsea; he is expected to be retained until the end of the season.
