Football Manager 26 is the latest instalment of the behemoth that is the Football Manager video game series, and women’s football is landing for the first time ever.

In a groundbreaking milestone for the series, FM26 will allow players to navigate the landscape of women’s football in a never-before-seen experience.

While the sport has risen to new heights in the real world, the virtual world was eager to follow suit. Sports Interactive revealed their plans to integrate the women’s game into Football Manager back in 2021.

Studio director Miles Jacobson made it crystal clear there was never an intention to create a standalone women’s football game. Now, Sports Interactive’s vision of ‘one world, one ecosystem’ has finally come to life. Players will be able to seamlessly move between managing women’s and men’s football in one redefined and groundbreaking instalment.

When is Football Manager 26 out?

The wait is finally over — Football Manager 26 drops around the world today. The full game will be available on PC/Mac, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Football Manager 26 Mobile also launches today as a Netflix exclusive. The Nintendo Switch (Touch) edition will drop in exactly a month’s time, on December 4th.

According to Steam and PlayStation, the release of FM26 will be at 5pm GMT, 5pm CET, 11am EST, and 8am PST.

Football Manager 26 is available to purchase for £45 in the United Kingdom, $59.99 in the United States, and €59.99 in Europe.

Why was FM25 cancelled?

Avid fans will recall the long wait for Football Manager 25, only for it to be delayed and then scrapped. Jacobson admitted he simply ‘wasn’t happy’ with the quality of FM25 and made the decision to cancel the instalment — the first time the annual release has ever been paused.

“I wasn’t prepared for people to be going out and spending their hard-earned money on something that wasn’t good enough,” Jacobson told BBC Newsbeat back in August. “If we had released FM25 in the state that it was in, it wouldn’t have been good value for money and it would have damaged us forever.”

Football Manager has finally brought its women’s football dream to life. Sports Interactive has worked alongside players, managers, club and organisations (including ourselves) to deliver a detailed and authentic women’s football database. The game features more than 36,000 players and 5,000 staff across 14 leagues in 11 countries.

Sports Interactive has reached a landmark new multi-year licensing agreement with FIFA, meaning the men’s and women’s World Cup will appear officially branded in Football Manager 26. You will find Her Football Hub featured as a regular media outlet within the game.
