Nottingham Forest are heading towards deadline day after a measured summer, with a new striker and a settled core driving Oliver Glasner’s plan.
According to Nottingham Post, the club have focused on quality over quantity and have until 11pm on 1 September to finish business.
Xaver Schlager, Ousmane Diomande and Steven Benda are in. A right-back is targeted, with Fiorentina’s Dodo said to be close to a €10m (£8.5m) deal to 2030.
The priority is a tall, physical forward with mobility. Liam Delap is under consideration, with rumours of a £40m-£50m fee and Everton and Newcastle interest in the Chelsea man.
Midfield recruitment is on hold. Lucas Bergvall has long been on the radar and Nicolo Fagioli has been linked, but James McAtee’s deeper role eases urgency.
Elliot Anderson has gone after Manchester City’s £116m offer, yet Forest appear on course to keep Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo and Williams.
Glasner said he did not seek assurances, and that only sales which make the team stronger would be accepted. He wants 20 to 22 out-field players plus three goalkeepers, with chances for top prospects.
Taiwo Awoniyi has joined Coventry City. A new right-back could allow Nicolo Savona to move, Omar Richards is unlikely to remain, loans for Zach Abbott and Eric da Silva Moreira are being weighed, and Arnaud Kalimuendo is intended to stay unless circumstances change.
