Forgotten Barcelona star could be handed first start of the season vs Getafe | OneFootball

A somewhat forgotten member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona could be afforded his long-awaited first starting berth of the season next weekend.

This comes amid the understanding that Hansi Flick is giving consideration to throwing Alejandro Balde in from the off against Getafe.

Stopper Balde is for his part fresh off what has been a hugely challenging opening to the new campaign in Catalunya’s capital. Sitting behind both Xavi Espart and João Cancelo in the left-back pecking order in Hansi Flick’s squad, the 22-year-old has been afforded a grand total of just 12 minutes of playing time.

After a summer packed with speculation surrounding his future, Balde, in turn, has now been linked with a potential January move away from Barcelona.

As alluded to above, though, over the week ahead, the Spaniard could be afforded the opportunity to win back the favour of his manager…

As per a report from Diario Sport, with João Cancelo and Xavi Espart having spent the last couple of weeks away on international duty, Balde, fresh and raring to go, could well be tasked with the role of Barcelona’s starting left-back against Getafe next Saturday.
