Former Ajax youngster Kaj Sierhuis enjoying injury comeback with Fortuna Sittard

Kaj Sierhuis had a torrid 2024/2025 season. The former Ajax youngster suffered an injury that restricted him to just 11 games and one goal. It was a blow for a forward who had really enjoy himself during his first season at Fortuna Sittard. Back in the Eredivisie, Sierhuis had scored 15 goals in 35 games, a welcome return after he struggled to find success in French football with Reims.
Yet, in the past few weeks, Sierhuis is looking back to the player he was two seasons ago. At the weekend he grabbed his 10th goal of the season as Fortuna Sittard beat Excelsior to grab their eighth win of the campaign. With plenty of time left in the current season, Sierhuis could certainly grab six more goals to ensure that 2025/2026 is the best season of his career.
The striker was part of that crop of quality young Ajax players who moved on to some of the biggest clubs in Europe. Sierhuis wasn’t quite at that level, playing just three games for Ajax before leaving to join Reims. In 30 games for Reims, he only scored once. The 27-year-old has certainly found a home with Fortuna Sittard, but this goal scoring run has come with his contract running out in the summer. Fortuna Sittard will be desperate to keep Sierhuis, but he will certainly be gathering interest from other clubs. The striker, in an interview with ESPN, is not ruling out a move in the summer.
