Off the pitch, Chelsea are still playing without a front of shirt sponsors for the second season in a row, which really is quite ridiculous in modern football.

Chelsea fans are always searching for updates on the front of shirt sponsors, but it finally does feel now like something is getting close to being announced by the club and they will have a sponsors on the front of their shirts very soon now.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Blues will now accept offers of around £45m, despite originally hoping for more.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that the strategy of holding out for more money is becoming too costly for the club.

Wyness added that he expects a deal to be completed very soon.

He told Inside Track podcast: “I think they’re going to have to get something signed at £45million.

“I think Todd Boehly has finally accepted that the strategy of holding out for the right price is getting too costly for them. I think £45m is a lot of money that they’ve got to keep coming in. I do think there’ll be something signed.

“Chelsea have got to also deliver on the pitch for that new sponsor, but still it’s a glamour shirt sponsorship and should be one of the top ones in the Premier League.

“Chelsea have a good international fan base, so they are worthy of a decent investment from a company, depending on what they want to do. But yes, I expect it to be signed very soon. Why it wasn’t done earlier in the season, I don’t know, but here we are. I think it will get done.”
