Kylian Mbappe returned to Real Madrid action this weekend with a key goal in their 2-1 win at Real Sociedad.

The Los Blancos star enjoyed a superb debut season in Madrid, despite the team ending the campaign without a trophy, and he is looking to lead Xabi Alonso’s attack once more.

Mbappe has recently spoken in an interview [with L’Equipe, as covered by ESPN], about some of the aspects of professional football which he does not like amid an ongoing dispute with PSG over unpaid salary instalments.

“I’m fatalistic about the world of football. But not about life. Life is beautiful. Football is what it is. I like to say that people who go to the stadium are lucky to ‘just’ come and watch a show, and not know what’s going on behind the scenes. Honestly, if I didn’t have this passion, the world of football would have disgusted me a long time ago.”

Mbappe’s attitude and off-field profile remains the source of major scrutiny in both France and Spain with certain life choices questioned.

His mother recently admitted her son does not have a drivers licence, despite turning 26 last December, and former France star Samir Nasri has called that out as an example of immaturity.

“A license is a form of independence, being able to do what you want when you want, to go out without having to be accountable. That means he has no private life, not even with his family. When he has to do something, he has to hire a driver,” as per quotes from Mundo Deportivo.

“There are bigger stars than him who have emerged, who have driven and gone around the ring road!

“He can go out on the street, he’s not going to cause a fuss! There are people who will stop him and take pictures with him. But that’s the price of fame.

“When I was 18, I went to buy bread. My father would drive, I would get out of the car, go into the bakery and buy bread in Marseille, a city that lives off football. You have do that, to be connected to real life.
