Sevilla’s recruitment under Antonio Cordón has accelerated, with Patrick Mercado confirmed and free deals for Juan Iglesias and Arouna Sangante secured for next season. The plan targets out of contract talent to stretch resources while adding youth and defensive steel.
In a video on X shared by Informe Morrocotudo, Andrés Onrubia assessed Sangante as a long-standing prospect who debuted at eighteen for Le Havre, became a key figure and captained the side at a young age, characterised by an assertive style.
He highlighted the defender’s success in tackles both near and away from the area, plus a relentless physical output. Discipline is a watchpoint in his view, describing Sangante as very aggressive and the player who commits the most fouls in France’s top flight.
Tactically, Onrubia said Sangante adapts to different approaches. He shone in open spaces during Le Havre’s promotion, and in Ligue one has impressed in a deeper block within a back three.
Aerially he is not outstanding, but he offsets that with tenacity and speed over short distances. His anticipation and one-v-one defending make him hard to pass.
Onrubia called it a very good addition for Sevilla FC, arguing the centre-back had long hinted he could step up to a club of this stature and that LaLiga suits him. On this evidence, Sevilla look to have executed a shrewd move.
