Former Freiburg attacker Kyereh joins Osnabrück | OneFootball

VfL Osnabrück have signed former Ghana international Daniel-Kofi Kyereh on a free transfer. According to BuLi News, the 30-year-old completed the move on Monday.

The forward began brightly at SC Freiburg, but successive injuries curtailed his Bundesliga progress. He did not play any games for more than two seasons before returning last term.

Last season he made seven appearances for Freiburg II in the Regionalliga. Across his time with Freiburg, he scored two goals in 12 Bundesliga outings.

Osnabrück marked their return to the 2. Bundesliga with a 4-3 defeat at Heidenheim, having scored three away to last season’s Bundesliga club. Kyereh arrives with 27 goals in the division from spells with Wehen Wiesbaden and St. Pauli before his 2022 switch to Freiburg.

The purple-whites assessed him over the summer as he regularly joined the team. He also featured at the 2022 World Cup.

Kyereh, the club’s new number 7, said recent years had been very difficult, though he never lost faith in getting back on the pitch. He added that Osnabrück had engaged closely with his situation and that trust meant a lot, and that he knows Timo Schulz and how he wants to play.

Coach Timo Schulz said he knows Kyereh’s qualities both as a footballer and a person, noted the enormity of recent challenges, and is pleased they are working together again.
