Serie A side Milan were briefly linked with a move for Milan Skriniar early in the summer transfer window. Nothing materialised but the defender has now been asked about his interest in a switch to the San Siro.

The centre-back spoke to MilanNews and when asked about interest from Milan, he said: “I’ve never spoken to Milan. I’ve never had any contact with the club. Even my agent knew nothing about this.”

When asked about whether he would be interested in a switch to the Rossoneri, Skriniar said that nothing is impossible and anything can happen.

“Nothing is impossible. Never say never. Let’s see what happens. I have a four-year contract at Fenerbahce and I’m happy there. The people love me and the fans are wonderful. I also have a good relationship with the club. I’ve found consistency again and I’m happy.”

“I’ve also improved in terms of performance and I want to continue. I’m thirty years old, time flies very quickly. Plus, in today’s transfer market everyone wants younger players. Let’s see what happens, but I’m very happy in Istanbul and I still want to do many things there.”

Skriniar was also asked to compare the Istanbul derby to the Milan derby and he revealed that he is still in awe of the San Siro.

“We know the fans in Turkey are really crazy. Fener-Gala is a huge derby, but for the fans, Fener-Trabzonspor is even crazier. But San Siro, as a stadium, as a history, and as everything else, always leaves you with something extra. I’ve only played the derby at home in the Cup, which is a bit different. But I’m happy that now I can finally play the Istanbul derby in the league.”

The defender won the Scudetto with Inter under Antonio Conte but later left to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. Things didn’t work out for him in France and he now finds himself at Fenerbahce.
