Ex-Italy head coach Cesare Prandelli has dismissed early-season criticism of Cristian Chivu, arguing that Inter’s project is progressing exactly as intended under the Romanian.
Speaking to Libero, via FCInter1908, Prandelli addressed the title race.
Furthermore, he discussed the contrasting developments of Serie A’s top sides.
Prandelli was clear in his defence of Inter’s coach.
He said his words were “dedicated to those who criticised Chivu after a couple of bad games,” adding pointedly: “According to these people, would Marotta really entrust this battleship to a coach he didn’t believe in?”
The comment reflects Inter’s internal confidence.
Indeed, with Prandelli insisting the team remains on the right track.

He also addressed the stylistic changes seen this season.
“It’s natural – every coach proposes the football he believes in,” Prandelli explained.
He then pushed back against a common narrative.
Prandelli said: “Chivu isn’t only good at communication or press conferences, as I keep hearing.”
His view is that Inter’s tactical evolution is a deliberate and coherent progression under Chivu’s leadership.
Prandelli also praised Milan’s development, arguing they are now a far more stable team. “Milan are solid now,” he said.
“Allegri has given them tactical coherence, and Tare has brought in the right players for the roles that needed to be filled. Look at Rabiot.”
