Former Leeds coach Michael Skubala named Bristol City manager on three-year deal | OneFootball

Michael Skubala, the former Leeds United coach, has been named Bristol City’s new manager on a three-year contract after impressing in interviews, yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk reports.

He coached Leeds United’s under-21s from July 2022 and became interim head coach in February 2023 after the sacking of Jesse March. He then joined Javi Gracia’s first-team staff before taking the Lincoln City job in November 2023, his first senior management role.

Lincoln narrowly missed the play-offs in 2023-24, then finished 11th in Skubala’s first full season. In 2025-26 his side surged to promotion as League One champions with 103 points.

The Imps now head into their first Championship campaign without him, following his switch to Bristol City.

Chief executive Charlie Boss said Skubala’s leadership made a clear impression during the selection process and across Lincoln’s title run. He also noted that James Ellis is in post as sporting director and thanked supporters for their backing during the search.

Skubala said he is delighted by the opportunity, has held positive talks with the board and Ellis about the club’s ambition, and is eager to meet players, staff and supporters. He added that pre-season plans are well under way and that the next few months will be important and exciting.
