Mikael Silvestre has backed Manchester United defender Leny Yoro to be a ‘key player’ for the club for the next decade.

Yoro joined Manchester United from Lille in 2024 and has made 61 appearances across all competitions. The 20-year-old arrived touted as one of Europe’s best defensive prospects, with the Red Devils beating competition from Real Madrid to land the centre-back.

Yoro has impressed since returning to the side in recent weeks, starting the club’s last four fixtures under Michael Carrick.

Silvestre, who won four Premier League titles at Old Trafford, has backed his compatriot for a bright future. He believes Yoro could be a fixture in the team for the next decade.

“He was on everyone’s radar straight away, especially mine as a defender,” Silvestre said.

“What stands out is his composure he’s a really good footballer. It’s been great to see how quickly he’s developed, and I was delighted when he joined Manchester United because he’s a real asset.

“I believe he’ll be a key player for the club for many years, maybe even the next decade.”
