Amorim was relieved of his duties back in January, ending his underwhelming spell at Old Trafford. That ill-fated spell came after a highly successful period at Sporting CP.

His success at Sporting helped bolster his reputation as one of the finest young managers in Europe.

Amorim has been out of work for six months but could now land a gig at one of Europe’s most decorated clubs, with Milan looking for a new manager and preparing to make contact with several candidates.

They axed Massimiliano Allegri after a disappointing end to the 2025/26 Serie A campaign and have several options on their radar.

While they’re exploring a deal for Amorim, Milan are also keeping tabs on Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, who will leave Selhurst Park this summer.

The Austrian oversaw the most successful spell in the club’s history, guiding them to FA Cup and Europa Conference League titles.

He leaves as the club’s most successful manager of all time, and his exploits in London mean he will not be short of offers this summer.

Al-Ahli manager Matthias Jaissle is also in contention for the Milan job after winning consecutive league titles with Red Bull Salzburg before heading to Saudi Arabia.

He picked up where he left off, winning the Saudi Cup and the AFC Champions League Elite title twice.

Milan’s summer of upheaval comes after a shocking finale to the season. They failed to qualify for the Champions League following a final-day 2-1 defeat against Cagliari.
