Felipe Martins, the Brazilian midfielder who last played for Orlando City and gave Messi a very hard time on the pitch, is ready to turn the page on what has been an outstanding career, which made him one of the most respected veterans in Major League Soccer.
Martins, who spent more than a decade at the top of American soccer, has enrolled at Harvard Business School to continue his journey of off-field growth.

Felipe made his MLS debut in 2012 with the Montreal Impact, quickly becoming a fan favorite. He later played for the New York Red Bulls — where he helped capture the 2015 Supporters’ Shield — followed by stints with Vancouver Whitecaps, D.C. United, Austin FC, and Orlando City SC.
Known for his relentless work rate and dogfighting midfield play, Felipe logged over 300 league appearances, and despite not scoring much, has been one of the most impactful Brazilian imports in MLS history.

Felipe has long spoken openly about the importance of resilience and personal growth — values that continue to guide him at Harvard.
“Tough times test us, but also define us,” he said. “They remind us that every challenge is a chance to grow stronger, to keep building, and to trust the process.”
