Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Musa Nyatama has been named the new head coach of Upington City.
This comes after the Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit parted ways with highly-rated tactician Abram Mongoya following a disciplinary hearing.
He reportedly took up a role with the Lesotho national team where he was serving as the assistant coach to Leslie Notsi, without the club's greenlight.
Mongoya was in the dugout when Likuena faced Bafana Bafana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last month and was also present when Lesotho beat Zimbabwe 1-0 this month.
Now, the Citizens swiftly moved to acquire the services of Nyatama, who is credited with steering Moroka Swallows away from the relegation zone in the 2023/24 campaign before the club was sold.
Notably, Upington have been courting the 38-year-old mentor for some time as they were linked with his appointment at the beginning of the ongoing season.
However, Nyatama eventually joined Betway Premiership side Chippa United as assistant coach to Sinethemba Badela.
But the duo was axed three games into the season and were eventually unattached ever since, allowing the second tier club to rope in Nyatama.
