Ex-Real Madrid head coach and midfielder Xabi Alonso has late this week secured for himself a return to football.
This comes amid confirmation of the Spaniard having agreed to take up the managerial reins at Premier League giants Chelsea.
Chelsea, as a club, find themselves in the midst of a disappointing day all told, fresh off an FA Cup final defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
Whilst the Wembley showdown was being contested, though, the Stamford Bridge hierarchy were busy putting the final touches on a contract agreement with the aforementioned Alonso.
Out of work since departing Real Madrid back in January, the 44-year-old is primed to lead Chelsea into a new era beginning next season.
As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Xabi Alonso has accepted to become Chelsea next manager, HERE WE GO! The agreement is set to be completed. Chelsea prepare official announcement for the upcoming days, but Xabi said yes.’
