The England international scored his first goal for his new club against Valencia recently and he looks like he’s a great fit for Diego Simeone’s style of football.

Gallagher feeling the love at Atletico Madrid

Gallagher’s departure didn’t go down well among Chelsea fans given his performance levels last season and the fact he came through the ranks at the club.

The midfielder likely would loved to have stayed at his boyhood club but it became very clear he was no longer wanted and needed to find a new club.

The move to Atletico was in danger of falling through at one point after Chelsea’s move for Samu Omorodion collapsed, but the Blues agreed a deal for Joao Felix in the end and Gallagher was able to complete his move.

Gallagher was loved by Chelsea fans, and it appears that feeling is already being shared by the Atletico fans and you sense he feels valued by club.

The Englishman has opened up in a recent interview about the Ateltico supporters and how he feels appreciated by the club.

“I’ve felt very wanted and appreciated, which is important for any footballer,” he told The Athletic.

“Chelsea are a huge football club, one of the biggest in the world, along with Atletico, but I have taken that exciting step of playing Champions League football and challenging for trophies.

“It just builds me with even more confidence and happiness to play my best football.”
