The 20-year-old Bangladesh international has returned to English football, joining Southern League Premier Division South side Gloucester City for the rest of the season. The former Sunderland and Birmingham City academy midfielder arrives after an overseas stint.

According to Sunderland Echo, Mitchell linked up with Gloucester after a short spell at Bashundhara Kings. He signed a three-year deal last July, then departed earlier this month by mutual agreement.

Reports have claimed he struggled to adapt to the climate and wider conditions, prompting a return to England in January. He sees the Gloucester move as a key step in establishing himself at senior level.

He said he was delighted to get the move over the line and eager to show what he can do, adding he wants to contribute to a team already performing well. After coming back from abroad, an approach via his agent and the club’s project convinced him.

He pointed to his academy grounding in England, plus first-team exposure overseas and an international debut, as valuable experience. He describes himself as a central midfielder who is creative and comfortable in possession, while ready to work defensively when needed.

Eligible for Bangladesh through his mother, he debuted against Nepal in November and featured in a landmark win over India, the country's first in 22 years. Gloucester are second in their division and in the promotion picture, with Mitchell hoping to help sustain that momentum in the closing stages.
