Former Wolves striker Rafa Mir, now on loan at Elche, faces up to 10 years in prison in Spain after being charged with sexual assault. He started only one senior game for Wolves.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Mir joined Wolves from Valencia for £1.5m in 2018. He made two league substitute appearances before loan spells, including Nottingham Forest, then moved to Sevilla for £13.7m in August 2021.

He was arrested in September 2024 and charged last October following a lengthy investigation. He is accused of “sexual assault with penetration involving the use of violence”.

Public prosecutors are seeking a nine-year jail term if he is found guilty of the alleged sexual assault, plus a further 18 months if convicted of wounding. They have also requested a 13-year restraining order and £55,000 compensation for the alleged victim.

Mir has protested his innocence. After his initial detention, he said: “I have full confidence in this country’s judicial system with which I have co-operated from the outset to clarify what happened.”
