Kaj Sierhuis announced that he will likely be leaving Fortuna Sittard this summer. The striker may have signed off in style in front of the home support, grabbing a goal and an assist as the side beat PEC Zwolle 3-2. That gave the striker 12 goals for the season and means he looks set to leave the club with at least 29 goals in 77 games.
For Fortuna Sittard, losing Sierhuis will be a blow. That goal at the weekend meant he overtake Burnley striker Zian Flemming as the most prolific striker for the club at Eredivisie level this century. As VI noted, Flemming scored 24 goals in the league during his time with Fortuna Sittard, with Sierhuis having grabbed his 25th league goal this past weekend. With one more game in the regular season to go, the striker has a chance against Utrecht to extend that number.
Flemming joined Burnley in 2024 on loan from Milwall. The striker had left the Eredivisie to join Millwall back in 2022, having spent two seasons with Fortuna Sittard. During that time he had scored 27 goals in 63 games. In London, Flemming grabbed 23 goals in 92 games for Millwall. During his loan spell with Burnley, Flemming scored 14 goals in 37 games and was signed permanently last summer. This past weekend, Flemming scored his 10th Premier League goal for Burnley, giving the 27-year-old 11 goals overall this season.
