Burnley have yet to make a real splash in the transfer market since appointing Nicky Hayen as manager

Nicky Hayen has indicated that Burnley are waiting to hear back about a number of transfer offers as the start of the season fast approaches.

The Clarets have so far completed just a few signings this summer, including Ben Amos as a free agent and the permanent addition of Florentino, who has since been sold to Ipswich Town.

The Lancashire outfit will want to strengthen their first team squad before the market shuts on 1 September.

Burnley were relegated from the Premier League in 2025/26, and will now have their sights set on competing for promotion in the upcoming campaign.

Hayen was appointed earlier this summer following Scott Parker’s dismissal, but he has been unable to shape the squad using the transfer market.

The club will return to Championship action this weekend when they host West Ham on Sunday.

Hayen has claimed that Burnley are quite busy at the moment as they await a number of responses to offers made to sign players.

The Belgian coach has indicated that there could yet be a number of signings completed this week in the build-up to their opening league fixture against the Hammers on Sunday.

“We're busy with some files,” said Hayen, via Burnley Express.

“At the moment we're busy with a few.

“They're thinking about the offer, but it will be for the upcoming days.

“Let's hope that we can finalise one, two, three, maybe 10 before West Ham!”

Burnley have so far been quite quiet in the window, with Ugo Raghouber being their main addition to the first team squad this summer.

The midfielder joined from French side Lille after enjoying a spell on loan with Levante last season.

The 23-year-old has arrived alongside Amos, who has put pen to paper on a deal as a free agent after his exit from Port Vale.

Meanwhile, Lluc Castell has signed from Espanyol, who have an ownership connection to Burnley, and he is likely to go into the academy system at first.

Burnley’s League Cup victory

Burnley faced Notts County in their opening competitive fixture of the new season at the weekend, with the two teams meeting in the first round of the EFL Cup.

Hayen’s side progressed to the second round courtesy of a penalty shootout victory after the scores were level at 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Zian Flemming scored from the spot kick to equalise after the visitors had taken the lead just before half time through Callum Roberts.

The draw for the second round takes place on Monday before Plymouth Argyle’s clash against Exeter City.

And Burnley will return to league action with their game against West Ham at Turf Moor on 16 August.

Burnley are running out of time to get deals done

It’s been an underwhelming summer for Burnley so far, as they’ve lost key players like Jaidon Anthony and Maxime Esteve.

However, they have not done anything to replace either player, and they could yet still sell top stars like Flemming, who has attracted interest from the likes of Brentford and Leeds United in recent months.

With the league getting underway this weekend, fans will be frustrated at the lack of activity in the aftermath of their Premier League relegation.

There are now just three weeks left in the market, so time is running out to get deals over the line and to improve the squad for a promotion push next season.
