According to several African media outlets, Ivorian midfielder Fousseny Coulibaly, currently a free agent after terminating his contract with Asswehly SC, is reportedly about to sign with Al Shomooa SC, a club recently promoted to the Libyan Premier Division.

Exclusive reports from African journalist Micky Jnr on his official (X) account state that Coulibaly is in advanced talks with the Libyan club’s management to finalize his move in the coming days.

Fousseny Coulibaly has parted ways with Swehly Club with immediate effect. The experienced Ivorian defender, who can also operate in midfield, is in advanced negotiations with newly-promoted Al Shomooa SC. Coulibaly’s arrival would add leadership and valuable experience to the squad, having previously featured for Esperance Tunis, Stade Tunisien and US Monastir.

Coulibaly’s career by the numbers

At 32 years old, Fousseny is regarded as one of the most solid defensive midfielders in African football. Renowned for his physical strength and commitment, he has played 238 matches throughout his professional career, mainly with Esperance Tunis and US Monastir, netting 20 goals and providing 9 assists.

As a reminder, Coulibaly joined Asswehly SC in August 2023, before bringing his contract to an end a year later.
