Werder Bremen could be set for significant movement on both sides of the transfer market as the summer window enters its final weeks. While the arrivals of Eren Dinkçi and potentially Niclas Füllkrug continue to reshape Daniel Thioune’s attack, Karim Coulibaly and Justin Njinmah are attracting increasingly concrete interest from abroad. Both Coulibaly (19) and Njinmah (25) might head to France’s Ligue 1.

The most advanced outgoing situation concerns Coulibaly. Sky Germany – as relayed by transfermarkt.de – reports that Racing Strasbourg have already submitted two offers for the 19-year-old centre-back, both of which Werder rejected. A third bid from the Ligue 1 side is now expected. Get German Football News recently reported that Werder are now seeking around €25m for their prized defensive prospect.

After months of speculation surrounding Coulibaly’s future, the Strasbourg interest represents the first sustained attempt to recruit the Germany youth international away from the Weserstadion. Kicker reports that several clubs remain in the race and that no suitor currently occupies a clear pole position. Werder have already prepared for the possibility of losing the youngster via the signing of Oskar Wojcik.

Marseille and Fiorentina monitor Njinmah

Justin Njinmah represents another potential source of transfer income. Sport Bild reports that Olympique Marseille are intensively exploring a move for the 25-year-old attacker, while Fiorentina are also interested. No formal offer has yet arrived, but Werder are reportedly seeking a fee in the high single-digit million range.

Njinmah himself remains open to a departure. A move to Hull City came close to completion in July after the clubs agreed a fee just below €9m, only for the transfer to collapse following a late change in Hull’s sporting-director position. Marseille could now provide another route out of Bremen. The French club are rebuilding their attack following several departures and are assessing whether Njinmah represents a suitable addition.

Werder continue to seek transfer income

Werder have already raised €20.5m through the sales of Mio Backhaus to Freiburg and Romano Schmid to Frosinone while investing relatively modestly in their incoming business. A substantial Coulibaly sale would give the club considerably greater room to complete the squad before the deadline. Njinmah could add another sizeable fee on top.

After a relatively quiet period surrounding Coulibaly, Werder’s transfer window now appears poised for considerably more movement. Strasbourg are expected to return, Marseille and Fiorentina are circling Njinmah, Dinkçi is already back in Bremen and Füllkrug could soon follow.

The final weeks of the window may therefore determine not only the shape of Thioune’s squad, but also how far Werder can push the remainder of their rebuild.
