Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

On Saturday, Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.9m), bought in by approximately one million FPL managers before the deadline, put Crystal Palace ahead against Brentford with a header.

However, the Bees were unlucky not to score themselves. Mikkel Damsgaard (£5.8m) had a central free-kick from the very edge of the penalty area that went over the bar while Kristoffer Ajer (£4.4m) was well-positioned for a second-half header.

Further late chances came via Vitaly Janelt (£4.9m) and Reiss Nelson (£4.8m), the latter forcing a good save.

The Spotlight

The sole Brentford player to exceed two points was Sepp van den Berg (£4.5m). It was the fifth match in 10 where he received defensive contribution (DefCon) rewards for reaching a combination of 10 clearances, blocks, and interceptions.

While centre-back partner Nathan Collins (£4.9m) has achieved this on one more occasion, van den Berg beats him when it comes to big chances and expected goals (xG). All at a lower cost.

He is particularly worth considering between Gameweeks 13 and 17, when the Bees’ five-match run includes meetings with Burnley, Leeds and Wolves.

Best of the Rest

Elsewhere, a second-half brace for Diego Gómez (£4.9m) helped Brighton ease past Leeds, collecting 16 points. Ryan Sessegnon’s (£5.4m) goal and assist brought in 14, though neither of them are in over 0.5 per cent of all squads.

A more familiar choice is Declan Rice (£6.8m), as the Arsenal midfielder registered his fourth attacking return in five matches - a spell where he’s also totalled nine bonus points and a further four for DefCon.

Of course, matching that score of 13 is Erling Haaland (£14.8m), the game’s most-picked player. That’s now 13 goals in 10 outings for the Manchester City machine.

In Demand

Mateta is continuing to be a popular purchase and expect even more transfers if Viktor Gyökeres (£9.0m) looks set to miss out in Gameweek 11.

Arsenal’s Swedish striker scored his first league goal since Gameweek 4, but didn’t make it out for the second half because he picked up a knock.

Meanwhile, midfielders Mohammed Kudus (£6.6m) and Tijjani Reijnders (£5.5m) are being sold by many, having recently seen their returns dry up.

Captaincy

Haaland is still likely to be the leading choice for double points because, although Liverpool have just secured their first clean sheet in a long time, they’d previously lost four league games in a row. Only Burnley are allowing more big chances over the whole campaign.

Alternatively, managers could captain a Chelsea asset. Enzo Fernández (£6.7m) has been unlucky to avoid points while, in typical FPL style, João Pedro (£7.4m) scored the winner against Tottenham - one of his three big chances.

The Brazilian had just been sold by 1.6 million frustrated managers, after racking up a mere two shots - neither on target - in five matches.

Suddenly, with last-placed Wolves coming to Stamford Bridge, he looks appealing again.
