Fran Garcia leaves Real Madrid to join Real Betis

Real Betis have signed left-back Fran Garcia from Real Madrid on a contract until 30 June 2030. The club said in a statement on Wednesday evening.

The 26-year-old has two Spain caps and has not been called up since 2023.

Garcia struggled for minutes last season, making only 13 La Liga appearances due to competition from Alvaro Carreras. Ferland Mendy, injured for much of the campaign, also featured rarely.

The arrival of Marc Cucurella in the capital further cut his chances on the left.

An academy product at Madrid, he returned in 2023 after three years at Rayo Vallecano. He played 109 matches for the first team and contributed to the 2024 Champions League triumph.
