Melvine Malard’s goal after just 43 seconds for France against Iceland is the fastest goal of this summer’s European Championship.

She collected the ball in space and defied the exhausting heat to stay ice cool and pick out the corner.

In doing so she dethroned Linda Sällström of Finland for the quickest goal at the tournament when she netted after 49 seconds against France.

It is also just the fourth time that a goal has been scored within a minute in women’s Euros history after Linda Medalen in 1989 (Norway v Sweden) and Karen Farley in 1995 (England v Germany).

And impressively, two of those strikes have came this summer.
