Zinédine Zidane is widely expected to become the next head coach of Les Bleus after Didier Deschamps. But before that, the former Real Madrid manager has a remarkable proposal on the table.

This Wednesday on RMC, Luis Fernandez was a guest on the Super Moscato Show. He took the opportunity to send a clear message to Zinédine Zidane. Fernandez says he is ready to join Zizou if the latter succeeds Didier Deschamps at the helm of the French national team. On the occasion of the release of his book "Paris SG, cet amour que j’ai pour toi", the former PSG coach expressed his desire to return to a role within the Les Bleus staff, but only alongside Zidane. "You started your career with me, I’d like to finish mine with you," he said.

Fernandez also clarified that he is not aiming for an assistant coach position, but rather sees himself as an adviser or a bridge to the players: "Not as an assistant. But as part of his staff, working with him, serving as the link with the players… That would really please me. I’m not out of touch!" he assured. To conclude, he paid tribute to Zidane: "Zizou means a huge amount to me. (…) He’s a role model for football."
