France were handed a tough draw for the next edition of the Nations League, having been placed in Group A with Italy, Belgium, and Turkey.
The draw for the competition took place in Brussels on Thursday night, with the Belgian capital having also hosted UEFA’s annual congress earlier in the day. Les Bleus were one of the Pot 1 teams in League A, alongside Spain, Portugal, and Germany.
The exact fixture list for Group A1 will be released shortly by UEFA. Matchdays 1 and 2 will take place over the next international break, and the league phase is due to be wrapped up by the end of November. The finals will then be played out during the spring of 2027.
The top two teams of each of the four groups will advance to the quarter-finals, while the third-placed side faces a relegation play-off and the bottom-placed country goes straight down to League B.
Les Bleus, who won the competition in 2021, finished in third place in the last edition. Didier Deschamps’ men were knocked out at the semi-final stage in a 5-4 thriller against Spain, before beating Germany 2-0 in the bronze medal playoff.
