According to Le Progres, head coach Laurent Bonadei on Thursday named a 23-player France squad for the 10 October friendly against Latvia in Laval, with captain Griedge Mbock returning after injury. It will be Les Bleues’ first match of the season ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
The PSG defender has worn the armband for one and a half years and missed the last two camps. Bonadei said she impressed in pre-season, had a minor hamstring issue that needed two weeks’ rest, and featured in PSG’s last two games.
The only newcomer is Océane Hurtré, 22, of Birmingham. Young players already called up include Anaïs Ebaylin, Anaële Le Moguedec, Julie Swierot and Vicki Becho.
Several regulars are out, including defender Elisa De Almeida, Delphine Cascarino and Oriane Jean-François. De Almeida was injured on arrival at Arsenal and returns to training this week, while Cascarino has a recurrent minor pubalgia and will rest after speaking with Bonadei on Wednesday.
France qualified in June for the World Cup in Brazil next summer, and the focus of this one-week camp is to protect player welfare after an intense start featuring Champions League matches and club moves.
The attack will be led by Kadidiatou Diani, Melvine Malard, Clara Mateo and Marie-Antoinette Katoto. Three further friendlies are planned in November, two in France and one abroad, before the Nations League in February, April and June. The World Cup runs from 24 June to 25 July 2027.
