Rennes are set to extend Franck Haise’s contract beyond 2027 after an impressive start to his tenure.
Appointed on 18 February after Habib Beye was sidelined, the 55-year-old initially signed to 2027. According to L'Équipe, talks are under way and the new term is expected to add one year, two at most.
Haise delivered his first brief by returning Rennes to Europe, securing a Europa League place after eight wins in the final 12 matches. On 1 June, sporting director Loïc Désiré said there was no urgency to address an extension straight after a draining season.
As pre-season begins at La Piverdière, reviews of deals are customary at Rennes. In June 2025, Beye took a one-year option linked to European qualification, while Bruno Genesio extended in 2022 and Julien Stéphan in 2019.
"We want to commit for the long term with Franck," said Désiré on Monday, speaking to TV Rennes.
On his arrival, Haise played down contract length, noting he had previously signed longer deals that did not run their course. He extended at Nice in summer 2025 to 2029, then departed six months later, and only Genesio has completed more than two full seasons in recent Rennes history.
Haise aligns with the club’s ethos, and there is clear unity with Désiré and president Arnaud Pouille. Four signings are already in, with a fifth close, and prolonging their coach appears a logical step before a campaign spanning Ligue 1 and the Europa League.
