La Provence reports that Olympique de Marseille's American owner Frank McCourt is expected in the city on Tuesday, and that his presence could precede key decisions on president Pablo Longoria. The club is facing an escalating sporting and institutional crisis, and McCourt has been publicly silent in recent days.

Longoria remains in post, yet his position looks increasingly fragile following supporter unrest and dissatisfaction with results after the departures of Roberto De Zerbi and sporting director Medhi Benatia.

During Saturday's 2-2 draw with RC Strasbourg at the Orange Vélodrome, banners targeting Longoria were displayed. There were reports of attempted incursions into presidential areas after the match.

Longoria had already come close to resigning in autumn 2023 after a confrontation with supporter groups.

McCourt has intervened in crises before. In February 2021 he travelled to Marseille to remove Jacques-Henri Eyraud as president, promote Longoria, and oversee the appointment of Jorge Sampaoli as head coach.

Graffiti has recently appeared outside the Commanderie training ground calling for the Spaniard's departure.
