Frattesi explains Lazio move and heaps praise on Gattuso: ‘I’d go to war for him’ | OneFootball

Davide Frattesi has revealed the pride he feels in signing for boyhood club Lazio and described Biancocelesti head coach Gennaro Gattuso as ‘someone I’d go to war for.’

Speaking at his official presentation as a new signing, alongside Pinamonti, Sutalo and Gudmundsson, with quotes via MilanNews.it, Frattesi first offered some background on his familial history with his new club.

‘My father was a Lazio fan and used to take me to the stadium, then when I grew up I started working as a ball boy, it’s something that started a long time ago.’

Frattesi: ‘I’d go to war for Lazio coach Gattuso’

He praised the speed of talks, claiming ‘The negotiations with Lazio went quickly, bureaucratic matters aside.’

Then, on his new head coach Gattuso, Frattesi was full of praise the former Azzurri CT, ‘My relationship with Gattuso began with the national team; he’s someone I’d go to war for. Then the dynamics developed, so I didn’t think twice about coming here. I needed a project like this. I was confident from the start, and I came here with a lot of enthusiasm.’

Frattesi then further explained his decision to join the Roman side, Frattesi said ‘After the last year where I had a headache, as my girlfriend told me, money isn’t that important. Obviously, we don’t earn two euros an hour, but I’d change everything I have in the bank to see my grandmother again for just five minutes.’

Finally, on Alessio Romagnoli’s departure, Frattesi said ‘For many young players, he was a role model, but career choices have to be made, and his is understandable. I wish him the best of luck.’
