Serie A’s window closed on Tuesday, but clubs can still sign unattached players. Il Messaggero reports that Lazio are tracking three experienced free agents, Mauro Icardi, David Alaba and Marcelo Brozovic.
Sporting director Angelo Fabiani left Patric and Luca Pellegrini off the Serie A squad list to keep room for potential arrivals. That move has fuelled talk of late additions.
Icardi’s agent has already held talks with Fabiani, and the Argentine is taking time to assess his options. He is said to be prioritising the right lifestyle choice.
Lazio brought in Andrea Pinamonti but moved on three forwards, Petar Ratkov, Boulaye Dia and Gabriele Artistico. Gennaro Gattuso could therefore want another centre-forward, otherwise he may lean on the versatile Tijjani Noslin and Albert Gudmundsson.
After selling Alessio Romagnoli to Al-Sadd, and with Patric indefinitely unavailable, defensive cover is also under consideration. Alaba, who left Real Madrid after five years and can operate across the back line, would be significant, though a deal looks complicated and his recent injuries are a concern.
Brozovic spent eight years at Inter Milan before joining Al-Nassr in 2023. After three years in the Saudi Pro League, the 33-year-old is ready to return to Europe, while Nicolò Rovella’s recurring issues leave the regista role short on reliability.
