According to Football Italia, six players have been shortlisted for September’s Serie A Player of the Month, with the three joint-leaders all represented.

Davide Frattesi found the net in all of the first three matchdays since joining from Inter, and he has been central to Lazio’s best start in their history.

Donyell Malen leads the pack with six goals in five Serie A outings for Roma. Lautaro Martinez has four in four, including braces in a comeback win over Napoli and to rescue a point against Roma.

Adrien Rabiot is Milan’s nominee. Two goals is a modest tally beside Malen’s, but the Frenchman has been one of the few constants during Ruben Amorim’s uneven start.

The other two come from clubs few expected to be discussing in September. Daniel Maldini has rediscovered himself at Cagliari after a difficult spell at Lazio, while Giorgi Kvernadze has three goals plus an assist for newly-promoted Frosinone, form that has Roma enquiring and Frosinone demanding €25m.

Fans can vote via the EA Sports platform, with league statistical data also feeding into the final decision.
