However, the former Bayern player’s preference is reportedly still to remain in top-tier European soccer—ideally with a club that has ambitions at the highest international level.

Juventus is stepping up talks

As reported by Calciomercato, Juventus Turin continues to work on signing Goretzka and has recently intensified its contacts with the player’s agency, Roof. According to the report, officials in Turin view the former Bayern player as a leader who could play an important role both on the field and off it.

However, there has reportedly been no concrete progress so far. The reason for this appears to be the midfielder’s financial demands.

Salary demands remain the sticking point

According to the report, Goretzka is demanding an annual salary of around seven million euros as well as a signing bonus of approximately ten million euros. For Juventus, which finished last season without qualifying for the Champions League, this total package apparently represents a significant hurdle.

In addition, the “Old Lady” is ramping up the pressure by simultaneously exploring other candidates. Franck Kessié is reportedly still on the Bianconeri’s list as well.

The message from Turin thus seems clear: If Goretzka wants to push through a move to Juventus, he will likely have to compromise on his financial demands.

It remains to be seen whether the two sides can find common ground in the coming weeks. One thing is certain: The former Bayern star remains one of the most sought-after free agents on the market—but a decision on his future is still a long time coming.
