Bayern Munich will hope to continue their stride towards the Bundesliga title when they face Freiburg at the Europa-Park Stadion this weekend. 

With just seven games to go this season and 37 points across the board, Die Breisgauer sit eighth in the league standings, nine points away from the sixth-placed Bayer Leverkusen. Their chances of qualifying for European competition from a favourable Bundesliga finish look bleak, unless they can go all the way to win either the Europa League or the DFB-Pokal. 

Julian Schuster will miss defender Max Rosenfelder due to a hamstring injury. Daniel-Kofi Kyereh is recovering from his knee injury and will take some more time off the pitch to return. Matthias Ginter and Bruno Ogbus are set to start in defence for Freiburg. 

As for Bayern, they head into this contest after sealing a thumping 4-0 victory over Union Berlin in their final clash before the international break. The three points from the match took the Bavarians’ tally to 70 points at the top of the table, nine points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund. 

It has been tough to exploit any weakness in Vincent Kompany’s side this season for German teams; however, with the Champions League coming up, and Freiburg looking to make a last-ditch attempt for a top-six finish, a draw is possibly on the cards. 

Kompany might rest Harry Kane as they have a midweek fixture against Real Madrid. Nicolas Jackson remains suspended. Jamal Musiala is a doubt due to an ankle problem. Alphonso Davies completed partial training and is unlikely to get the nod to start this weekend.
