Olympique de Marseille could suffer a blow to their hopes for the future as Enzo Sternal (16) rejected the club’s offer of a one-year contract extension.
Sternal arrived at the club in 2022 from AS Nancy Lorraine on a professional contract until 2025. However, according to a report by L’Équipe, it looks as if Sternal will reject Marseille’s extension after he was left unimpressed by their plan for him.
Marseille have not offered a timeline for the player to train with the professional group, nor have they provided a similar financial package as they have with Darryl Bakola (16). The club are alleged in private to be uncertain over his future potential.
It’s a situation that has left European clubs surprised and keen to test Marseille’s commitment to keeping the France U17 international, as Sternal remains a highly-rated prospect. It appears increasingly likely that Marseille will soon lose out on Sternal.
