A significantly more positive injury update has been issued on Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko after claims that he was set to be sidelined for at least four weeks.
Sesko sustained an injury during United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur just before the November international break.
He came on as a second-half substitute but did not see the game to completion, as he was forced off the pitch with a knee issue. United were left to finish the game with 10 men because Ruben Amorim had used up all his substitutions by that point.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that there was hope that Sesko’s injury was not too serious and he would return to action sooner than initially expected.
Sesko did not link up with Slovenia for international duty.
On Monday, Sky Sports gave an update on the 22-year-old, indicating that scans revealed he would be ruled out for at least a month.
However, Sky have since updated their information, noting that Sesko will be back much earlier than that.
According to the news outlet, the summer signing will be out for at most a month. This means that four weeks is the maximum amount of time Sesko will be unavailable to Amorim for selection.
This has been reiterated by the BBC, who further explain that Amorim will give a clearer picture of the situation this week at a news conference before Monday’s Premier League meeting with Everton.
In Sesko’s absence, Amorim can finally turn to Joshua Zirkzee. The Dutchman has had to be content with a place on the bench – a state of affairs that has seen him open up to a United January exit ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Another option for Amorim is to deploy Matheus Cunha in the striker role. It’s a position Cunha is very familiar with from previous clubs, including Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Additionally, Amorim may also call on the services of Chido Obi. The teenager is excelling in the youth ranks and will undoubtedly relish the opportunity to contribute at the first-team level.
