Austria v Ghana Tip - Back Ghana to draw a blank again

Austria left it late to scrape into this summer's World Cup, while Ghana marched their way to qualification with a near flawless campaign, losing just one of their 10 group games. The bookies obviously don't rate that standard though as the visitors are 9/2 match outsiders while Austria are odds-on at 4/7 in Vienna.

Ghana lost two friendlies in November against Japan and South Korea without scoring a goal and again I think Austria will be taking this a bit more seriously in terms of the result - so we'll back them to go safety first and win with a clean sheet.

England v Uruguay Tip - Back Nunez & Valverde in 9/2 Bet Builder

Thomas Tuchel makes his final tweaks starting as 1/2 favourites against a largely decent Uruguay side, but one that got hammered 5-1 by the USA in their last friendly. A repeat performance of that Uruguay side that day deserves to be 5/1 underdogs at Wembley. Whoever Tuchel starts he'll be preaching defensive solidity, and with Uruguay keeping four clean sheets in their last five competitive games this may not be a thriller.

But Marcelo Bielsa will bring his side to play and I think they'll give England a game, especially if he starts with his strongest side, so this looks a decent opportunity for a Bet Builder to jump on the Betfair Bet £10 Get £10 Sportsbook offer, starting with Federico Valverde being 6/4 for just 1+ shot on target after a run of six goals in five games.

And what about the returning Darwin Nunez, who needs minutes after remarkably being frozen out in Saudi Arabia but he was his country's top scorer in World Cup qualifying and he'll be jacked up to be back in England playing at Wembley - so a couple of fouls and a shot on target should be easily attainable.

Netherlands v Norway Tip - Back a brace for Norway even without Haaland

The Dutch have only one penalty shootout defeat in the last year against them, while they're unbeaten at home since October 2023 so go in as 8/13 favourites against this fine Norway side that'll be without a resting Erling Haaland but will still pack a punch and provide a stern test.

Both sides have been scoring gals for fun - Netherlands scored 27 in eight qualifiers while Norway have scored 4+ goals in four of their last five away games so we're expecting this to be a bit of a shootout. I can't quite figure out the result but even without Haaland I still think Norway have enough firepower to score a couple of goals and see where that gets them.

Switzerland v Germany  Tip - Back the draw in Basel

The unbeaten Swiss rolled through World Cup qualifying with ease conceding just twice and if at full strength they'll be a lot for Germany to handle in Basel. Julian Nagelsmann's men won five on the spin after a shock opening loss to Slovakia, but this is a much tougher prospect so I wouldn't be too confident of them coming through as 6/5 favourites.

These two combined for eight clean sheets and just five goals conceded in 12 World Cup qualifiers but this is a friendly so changes will be made that will open up opportunities - both sides will be determined not to lose but I don't think the win is essential, so I've got this one pegged as a score draw. The last three meetings between these two have all been score draws.

Spain v Serbia Tip - Slick Spain to score a few

Spain's Finalissima showdown with Argentina was cancelled due to the war in the Middle East so they're facing Serbia instead as heavy 2/9 favourites against a Serbia side that failed to qualify for the World Cup, so you have to wonder what sort of attitude they'll take with them to Villarreal.

The hosts will want a good run-out though, and with 18 goals in their last five games and 2+ goals scored in 13 of their last 14 home internationals they're likely to put a few away here too. Serbia are too much of a question mark for me to back whether they'll score or not, so I'll stick with with the hosts to just get theirs.

Morocco v Ecuador Tip - Back yet another Ecuador draw

Newly-crownd African champions (for now!) Morocco face Ecuador in Madrid in a clash between two evenly matched sides who've both qualified for the World Cup. Senegal did actually beat them in the African Cup of Nations final which ended Morocco's magnificent 23-game unbeaten streak, but they're still slight 6/4 favourites at the Metropolitano.

Ecuador are 2/1 and are tough customers having finished second behind Argentina (and also beating the World Cup holders) in South American qualifying - losing just two of their 18 games while conceding just five goals during that spell. They're unbeaten in 15 games with 12 clean sheets, while Morocco can boast 15 clean sheets in the past 18 outings.

There won't be many goals here and with Ecuador drawing seven of the last nine this looks like a classic friendly draw.
