It’s only a matter of time before it’s official, but Roma has chosen Frederic Massara’s replacement.
The Giallorossi will restart with Tony D’Amico, the sporting director who will work closely with Gian Piero Gasperini, who is in his second year in the capital.
The Grugliasco-born coach is very demanding and hopes to have a squad worthy of the Champions League.
A verbal agreement between Roma and D’Amico has been reached, and the contracts have been ready for days, but there’s still one piece missing to complete the puzzle.
Atalanta is currently exercising his contract, which expires in 2027, despite having replaced him with Giuntoli.
Roma needs a sporting director to begin planning for next season.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Ryan Friedkin called Atalanta yesterday, resolving the misunderstanding that had created an embarrassing impasse.
Atalanta didn’t appreciate the agreement reached between D’Amico and a rival club, so after making Giuntoli official, they kept him under contract.
In Bergamo, there are no discounts, which is why a financial issue may have emerged in the discussions between Roma’s owners and Atalanta. A compensation payment to free D’Amico. The final word is expected between today and tomorrow.
