A race against time to meet the settlement agreement with UEFA by June 30th.
Roma has just over 24 hours to make a capital gain of around €50 million, a prospect that’s currently remote.
Soulé, in fact, isn’t convinced about moving to Saudi Arabia.
Should Roma fail to comply with the settlement agreement, UEFA will impose sanctions in November for the 2027-28 season.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, a fine will certainly be imposed, but it will be steeper than the previous ones: €2.1 million (2022-23), €3 million (2023-24), and €6 million (2024-25).
The expected fine is around €10-12 million, although the amount will depend on the extent of the Giallorossi’s overspending.
This fine should be accompanied by a squad restriction, meaning Gasperini will be able to list a maximum of 22 players in European competitions, instead of 25. In theory, this should stop there.
Subsequent sanctions would gradually include squad restrictions, meaning a ban on signing new players, and a ban from the respective competition (a remote possibility, given the relationship between Friedkin and Ceferin).
