With the 2025 AFCON fast approaching, the Nigerian national team is playing a final warm-up match against Egypt, a friendly encounter packed with tactical insights ahead of the continental tournament kickoff.

Nigeria without several stars against Egypt

According to multiple Nigerian media outlets, the Super Eagles will approach this clash with a largely experimental lineup, as several key players have opted to skip the fixture. Notably absent are Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen and Paris FC winger Moses Simon.

The same sources report that Osimhen and Simon will join the Nigerian squad directly in Morocco after the match against Egypt.

The Nigerian coaching staff is expected to use this encounter to give playing time to fresh faces, while relying on a few regulars to maintain team balance. Wilfred Ndidi is set to anchor the midfield, alongside goalkeepers Francis Uzoho and Stanley Nwabali.

Kickoff for the Egypt–Nigeria match is scheduled for Tuesday, December 16 at 18:00 GMT at the Cairo International Stadium, serving as a crucial test for both teams ahead of AFCON 2025.
